An ode to silliness

An ode to silliness

Run barefoot down the street,
singing out loud to a song you barely know.
Wear the hat that makes no sense,
wave at strangers, yell HELLO!

Dance while cooking, let the beat take control.
Forget the rules, and free your soul.
Wear your hair in pigtails, dress in jelly shoes,
not because it makes sense, but because it doesn’t have to.

Climb the fence just to see the view,
spin in circles till the sky feels new.
Make up a handshake, give things strange names,
keep playing pretend, like you did back in the day.

The world will tell you “act your age!”
“Stay composed!” “Sit up straight!”
But life was never meant to be this way –
it’s meant for joy, it’s meant for play.

So here’s your slip, your full permission,
to let go, to be wild and free.
Because silly isn’t wasted time,
it’s where the best parts of life will always be.

With lots of silly love,
